What is Video Poker?

Video Poker is a relatively modern invention, a merger of sorts between traditional Poker and slot machines. A video poker game is a contest between you and the machine. During a game of Video Poker the dealer (the machine) will deal you two hands of five cards each. When you receive your first hand you must decide which cards to hold (keep) or discard. The objective is to finish the game with the strongest hand possible. The payout at the end of the game is dependent on the value of the hand you are holding. If you have won, the game will offer you an additional opportunity to increase your winnings by participating in a Doubling phase.

The Advantages

Video poker is hugely popular for a number reasons. First, it is what is commonly referred to as a 'no brainer'. Not as insulting as it sounds, this merely refers to the fact that you can play Video Poker without the need for much thinking. Like slots, you can simply click away and hope for the best. Also like slots, Video Poker is one of the few games where you can win huge amounts for a very small stake.

Jacks Or Better

There are several variations of Video Poker. The most popular variation is Jacks Or Better.

The name of the game “Jacks or Better” refers to the fact that the lowest (or least valuable) standard poker hand that will payout in this game is Jacks or Better, a hand containing at least a pair of Jacks or more valuable cards. Jacks or Better has no wild cards and pays out a maximum of 4000 coins for a Royal flush.
