Roulette - Winners Choose Wisely
17 April 2002

Roulette is one of the oldest and most popular of all casino games. It is equally popular at online casinos. But - before you jump into just any casino to test yourself against the wheel - stop! Not all online casinos give you an equal chance to win and, when you consider that the casino already has a house edge, you'd be wise to give yourself your best chance of success.

American Or European?

For players who have only ever seen one type of roulette wheel, it can come as something of a shock to be faced with a different one. Fortunately, the difference is small. Whilst the European roulette wheel only has one 'zero', the American equivalent has two (a zero and a double-zero). 'So what?', you may ask. It doesn't seem much of a difference. Thing is, that 'double-zero' increases the house edge from just 2.7% in the European game to a whopping 5.4% in the American game. That should convince you to only play at casinos which feature European roulette and only play that version when there is a choice of the two.

Game Quality

The quality of the roulette game you will play depends considerably on which online casino you visit. Whilst most of the leading casinos use software which offers good roulette games, it is really Microgaming casinos such as Showdown Casino and Capital Casino which offers the most impressive version of European roulette. For realism, graphics and overall playability, you can't beat them.
